Mobile live recording is obviously different to studio recording. There are several ways to approach recording live performances where the FoH (Front of House) sound is already being looked after and everything is already mic'd up. hereSOUND can offer 4 basic approaches:
hereSOUND uses stage splitter boxes to take an isolated feed direct from the stage mics.
Usually recommended, as hereSOUND can take signal independantly without affecting FoH, and minimal mic setup is required. |
hereSOUND takes a stage split and mics up where required.
Quite common; especially in venues where not everything is mic'd up for FoH - e.g. a vocal P.A. |
hereSOUND takes signal from the Direct Outs of each channel in the FoH desk.
Handy in places where stage splitting is impractical, though usually not recommended. |
hereSOUND mics up alongside the existing stage mics.
Usually for instrumental performances, where different mic techniques or higher quality mics are required. |

If there is no FoH sound and hereSOUND is
solely there to record your performance - e.g. At your rehearsal space or at a purely acoustic performance - we will simply mic up the instruments and voices and record from there:
hereSOUND mics up everything as there are no other mics in place. |

A real bonus of live recording is the use of room mics to capture how the audience responds to your performance.
In addition to the 24 tracks used for the performers & their instruments, hereSOUND uses 2 channels (stereo L+R) specifically for this purpose. Fully hearing applause, cheering and singing along sounds awesome on a live recording, rather than the distant sounding crowd noise you usually get from a live desk mix.

Once hereSOUND captures the sound there are optional approaches to how it's mixed:
hereSOUND provides you with a copy of both the individual tracks and a mixdown with effects & processing if desired. |
hereSOUND provides you with the individual tracks only, which you can mix down yourself. |
hereSOUND mixes a stereo mix in real time at the performance and provides you with that, plus the individual tracks. |
hereSOUND provides you with live and post mixes, plus the individual tracks. |
Where mixing is required, option 1 (post mix) is recommended over option 3 (live mix) as processing and effects can more readily be used in post, and sound isolation can be achieved much more successfully away from the loud P.A. system, hence the mix will be higher quality.

Very high quality format. 45mins of 24 track recording uses approximately *9.0GB storage space. |
Ultra high quality format. 45mins of 18 track recording uses approximately *13.5GB storage space. |
Windows based file format. Compatible with most DAW including Cubase & ProTools. |
Apple/Mac based format - (Slightly more disk space required than the above figures) |
*If your files use over 9.0GB storage space, file transfer will need to be done directly to your portable hard disk rather than DVD.
