The Big British Sound

The Big British Sound was a concept gig presented by fashion label Ben Sherman. We recorded it in conjunction with FBi Radio at the Paddington Town Hall in Sydney.
The idea was to get some of Australia's hottest bands to play a set which included two covers of their favourite British songs.
The line-up was pretty awesome:
Little Red
Tame Impala
Jack Ladder
The Seabellies
Art vs Science

Juana Molina @ The Famous Spiegeltent

Argentinian sensation Juana Molina stopped by the spiegeltent to perform her last 2 shows in Australia. hereSOUND was fortunate enough to have the opportunity of recording her very last show there, on closing night of Sydney Festival.

An amazing artist who uses a combination of guitar, keyboard and vocals, which she then loops electronically, Juana Molina provides a rich tapestry of the most interesting, inspiring and mesmerising music on the planet, and holds her audience captive in a trancelike state for her entire set.

El guincho at Oxford Art Factory

El Guincho gave a brilliant performance at OAF and hereSOUND was there to record it for FBi Radio.
Because the airline company had lost most of their equipment, they were forced to play with hired eqipment, and used electronic rather than organic instruments to play their set, which was amazing.

Festival First Night - Fuzzy Stage

hereSOUND had the opportunity to record French sensation "Busy P" at Sydney Festival's "Festival First Night" on the Fuzzy Stage, in conjunction with Fuzzy and FBi Radio.
The energetic DJ pumped out a massive set, and the huge crowd added a priceless vibe to the recording!

Nevereverland - The Hordern Stage

Recording bands at the Modular Records 10th Birthday Party - "Nevereverland" - at The Hordern Pavilion was an amazing experience for hereSOUND.
Working for FBi radio, we recorded The Presets, Klaxons, Cut Copy, Ladyhawke and Van She.
Sitting off stage-right of the massive Hordern stage, it was cool and clean, while only metres away the 5000 strong Sydney crowd was loud, hot, messy and having a really good time!

We had to run to stage-left between each band to re-patch our stage-splits, as each band had a different channel list. We then rushed back to catch a very quick line-check by the local crew which we had to nail first time, and then we were ready to record the next set.

An 18 hour day in all, we captured the performances without any dramas.

Recording the Headhunters

When Australian guitarist Marc Mittag toured Oz with legendary U.S. funk / fusion band The Headhunters, hereSOUND was fortunate enough to be able to record one of their Sydney gigs.

Watching master percussionist Bill Summers and drummer Mike Clark ("the most sampled drummer in history") lay down some amazing beats was awesome, and Jerry Z playing bass on his keyboard whilst soloing was incredible. Not to mention our own Marc Mittag (now living mainly in the States) blistering away on guitar.

Matty and hereSOUND have been instrumental FBi's LIVE FEEDin helping FBi record a wide variety of live sets for our LIVE FEED segment, broadcast on Sundays at 2pm and Syndicated to PBS in Melbourne and RTR in Perth. Always reliable, easy to deal with and most importantly, they deliver excellent quality sessions with attention to detail. They capture a live sound  that has been receiving a fantastic positive response from our listeners and the bands involved. We're always looking forward to our next project with hereSound.
